Brittany (Breizh/Bretagne) is a former independent Celtic kingdom and duchy, now incorporated into France. Brittany occupies a large peninsula to the north-west of France, lying between the English Channel to the north and the Bay of Biscay to the south.

The flag of Brittany is called the "Gwenn-ha-du", which means white and black in Breton. The flag is not only used by cultural associations or autonomists but by everyone in general. Authorities considered the flag a separatist symbol, but the attitude has now changed and the flag, no longer having any political symbolism, appears everywhere, even on public buildings along with the other official flags. The flag represents the history and culture of the Breton people.
