CATALONIA-CATALUNYA

Catalonia (Catalunya), is an Autonomous Community of the Kingdom of Spain. The Autonomous Community of Catalonia borders France and Andorra to the north, Aragon to the west, and Valencia to the south. Official languages are Catalan, Spanish and Aranese. The capital city is Barcelona.

The Catalan flag, also called "Senyera" is based on the coat of arms of the Crown of Aragon. This coat of arms historically represented the Crown of Aragon and today it has been adopted as the flag by 4 Spanish autonomous communities: without any change for Catalonia, and with some variations for Aragon, the Balearic Islands and Valencia.
