FLANDERS-VLAANDEREN

A Fleming is an inhabitant (or descendant) of Flanders (Vlaanderen), the nothern part of Belgium which consists of the Flemish Community or anyone living in the historical Flemish Country, covering overlapping parts of modern Belgium (Eastern and Western Flanders), Northern France, and The Netherlands.

The official flag of the Flemish Community represents a black lion with red claws and tongue on a yellow field. The first documented use of the Flemish Lion was on the Seal of Philip d'Alsace, Count of Flanders in 1162.
