The Macau-SAR of the People's Republic of China, commonly known as Macau, Macao or Aomen, is one of the two special administrative regions of the People's Republic of China, the other being Hong Kong. The territory is one of the richest cities in the world. Macau was both the first and the last European colony in China. The flag of Macau is light green with a lotus flower above the stylized Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge and water in white, beneath an arc of five gold, five-pointed stars: one large in the center of the arc and four smaller ones. The lotus was chosen as the floral emblem of Macau.
