Tibet (Bod) is a region in Central Asia and the home to the indigenous Tibetan people. Tibet was once an independent kingdom, but today is part of the People's Republic of China. Currently, the PRC government and the Government of Tibet in Exile still disagree over whether the incorporation into China of Tibet is legitimate according to international law.
The flag of Tibet, also known as the "Snow Lion Flag", was introduced in 1912 by the 13th Dalai Lama, who united the army flags of various provinces to design the present one. Today, it is considered by many to represent the Tibetan people and their aspirations.
